Privacy Policy

Your data, plainly explained.

Last updated: June 18, 2026

Dorehme is a free piano learning platform. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it. We collect only what's needed to make the service work. Most of Dorehme can be used without an account — no personal data is collected from guest users.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name. This is handled by Clerk, our authentication provider. We never see or store your password directly.

Progress data. We record your lesson completions, exercise attempts, boss battle results, day streaks, and badge unlocks so your progress persists across devices and sessions.

Rhythm scores. When you complete a scored piece, your score is stored in our database. Scores will be displayed publicly on the leaderboard once that feature is complete.

Saved sheets. Sheet music you create or import in the Piano Editor is stored in our database and is private to your account.

What we don't collect

We do not collect payment information — Dorehme is free to use. We do not run advertising trackers. We do not sell your data to any third party, ever.

The Sight Reading Drill saves your session settings (BPM, duration, key) in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide Dorehme's features: saving your lesson progress, tracking your streak, recording your scores, and restoring your session when you return. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

Lawful basis for processing

For users in the European Union, we process your data under the following lawful bases as defined by the GDPR:

  • Contract performance — account information and progress data are processed to deliver the service you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interest — rhythm scores are stored to show your personal bests and to power the leaderboard once that feature launches.

Third-party services

Dorehme relies on a small number of trusted infrastructure providers:

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or ask us to delete your account and all associated data at any time. To do so, email info@doreh.me.

Your scores are private for now; the public leaderboard that will display them is not yet live. Deleting your account removes all of your score entries.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of Australia, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Users in the European Union also have rights under the GDPR as described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when it last changed. Continued use of Dorehme after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
