Terms of Service

Rules of the road.

Last updated: August 5, 2026

By using Dorehme you agree to these terms. They're written to be readable, not to trap you — but please do read them.

The service

Dorehme is a free piano learning platform built by a solo developer. You can use the Rhythm, Theory Reference, and Sight Reading Drill without an account. Creating an account unlocks progress saving, the Learn curriculum, and the Piano Editor.

Dorehme is provided as-is. We aim to keep it available and working but cannot guarantee uptime or that any specific feature will remain available.

Your account

Most of Dorehme — Play, Theory Reference, the Sight Reading Drill, and Learn lessons in free-trial mode — can be used without an account and is available to users of all ages. Account creation, which enables progress saving and the full curriculum, requires you to be at least 13 years old. A teacher-mediated, parent-consented account option for younger students is planned but not yet available — see "Teachers and students" below.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

One account per person. Creating accounts to inflate scores or circumvent restrictions is prohibited.

Acceptable use

You may use Dorehme for personal, non-commercial piano learning. You may not:

  • Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to submit fake scores or attempt exercises
  • Scrape or reproduce Dorehme's curriculum content without permission
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform
  • Use Dorehme in any way that violates applicable laws

Your content

Sheet music you create in the Piano Editor remains yours. By saving it to Dorehme, you grant us a limited licence to store and serve it back to you. We do not claim ownership of your compositions or imports.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you import. Do not import material you do not own or have a licence to use.

Our content

Dorehme's curriculum, lesson content, interface, and branding are owned by Dorehme. You may not copy, redistribute, or commercialise them without written permission.

Scores and leaderboards

Your rhythm scores are visible to you as personal bests. Cross-user leaderboards are currently restricted to admin accounts and are not public. If that changes in the future, we'll update this page first. We reserve the right to remove scores that appear to be the result of automated play or cheating.

Teachers and students

A student may link their account to a teacher using a Roster Code. Teachers may only use information about a linked student — assignments, progress, and their own notes — to support that student's learning, and must not share it further. A teacher may unlink a student, or a student may unlink from a teacher, at any time.

Linking a student under 13 to a teacher requires parental consent. That pathway is still in development and is not yet available — today, only students who confirm they are 13 or older can link with a teacher.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Dorehme is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that your progress data will never be lost.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dorehme is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

Account termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your progress data and saved sheets will be deleted.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. The "Last updated" date reflects when they last changed. We will do our best to notify account holders of material changes. Continued use of Dorehme after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes arising from your use of Dorehme will be subject to the jurisdiction of Australian courts.
